From Report to Action: Peltu Subkhan and Firefighters Battle Blaze in Tangerang

Kodam Jaya, Tangerang – Peltu Subkhan, a Babinsa (village supervisory non-commissioned officer) from Koramil 07/Pondok Aren, Kodim 0506/Tangerang, acted swiftly to assist residents during a fire that engulfed a boarding house and a small grocery shop on Jalan Masjid Al-Barokah RT 04/RW 01, Kelurahan Pondok Jaya, Kecamatan Pondok Aren, South Tangerang, on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at approximately 06:15 WIB.

Subkhan received an urgent report from the local neighborhood chief, Ibat, about flames originating from a small gasoline stall at the front of Karwadi’s (60) property. He immediately rushed to the scene and found the fire had spread rapidly, producing thick smoke that filled the narrow residential alley.

Without waiting for firefighters to arrive, the Babinsa instructed residents to move to safety and led the evacuation of the boarding house occupants. He, along with local residents, cut the electricity supply to prevent short circuits and helped salvage personal belongings from the affected building.

“Our priority was the safety of the residents, as the fire spread very quickly,” Subkhan said at the scene.

The situation was tense due to the presence of motorcycles and other flammable materials inside the building. Subkhan and the residents opened narrow access paths to allow fire trucks to reach the location.

Shortly after, two fire trucks from the South Tangerang City Fire Department, led by Dwi Nurcahyo, arrived. The firefighters immediately began extinguishing the flames, while Subkhan assisted with securing the area, calming residents, and ensuring no one was trapped inside.

The fire was successfully brought under control around 06:50 WIB. The blaze destroyed the boarding house, the grocery shop, and two motorcycles owned by the tenants.

No casualties were reported, but material losses are estimated at approximately IDR 130 million. The local police, Polsek Pondok Aren, conducted witness interviews and further investigation.

Subkhan reminded the community not to store or sell fuel openly in densely populated areas due to fire hazards. The presence of territorial officers significantly accelerated the initial response and helped stabilize the situation, allowing residents to gradually resume their daily activities.

Koramil 07/Pondok Aren also urged residents to remain vigilant against potential fire risks in crowded neighborhoods.
